Jonathan Andrew Ross is an accomplished luxury hospitality leader with more than two decades of experience guiding premier hotels and resorts throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic. As managing director of the Brenton Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island, Ross oversees all facets of the 57-room waterfront boutique property, which opened in June 2020.

Ross joined the Brenton Hotel during its pre-opening phase in 2019, where he led development, hiring, training, and the hotel’s sales and marketing strategy. Today, he spearheads the property’s daily operations, spanning guest services and operations to asset management. Under his leadership, the Brenton Hotel has earned its place among Newport’s most celebrated hotels. The property has been included in Travel + Leisure’s “Top 500 Hotels” List and “World’s Best Awards” List, as well as being highlighted as one of the top places to stay in Newport by Conde Nast Traveler.

Prior to his role at the Brenton, Ross served as regional director of sales and marketing, New England, for Auberge Resorts Collection. In that position, he developed and managed sales, marketing, and ecommerce initiatives for several distinguished hotels, including White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, The Vanderbilt in Newport, and Mayflower Inn & Spa in Connecticut, as well as Grace Cafayate in Argentina.

Ross previously held senior roles with Pyramid Hotel Group, where he directed the relaunch of the reimagined Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing and at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club on Cape Cod. During his tenure at Wequassett, he played a key role in the rebranding and redevelopment of the property, helping it become Cape Cod’s first Forbes Five-Star resort and contributing to an annual revenue increase of more than $16 million.
Earlier in his career, Ross served as director of sales and marketing for Mandarin Oriental Boston, where he earned the prestigious Tai-Pan Award in recognition of exceptional performance by the hotel’s commerce and marketing team.
Ross has served the New England Inns and Resorts Association (NEIRA) and the Newport Tourism Improvement District boards since 2020. Ross has a son who graduated from William S. Rodgers High School in 2025 and is currently enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island. He is an avid runner whom you might see on the streets of Newport around 5 am.
