Voices of Uprising: Art, Pride & Protest at 250

A night celebrating art, activism, and LGBTQ+ history as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary. We will watch the Stonewall Uprising PBS documentary, archival LGBTQ+ footage from the Rhode Island Historical Society, and hear local spoken word artists. Free and open to all!

About the event

Spoken word from Michael Klein. Michael is a five-time finalist and two-time winner of the Lambda Literary Award for poetry. He's also the author of two books of autobiography and his work has appeared in Poetry, Paris Review, American Poetry Review, Tin House, Bennington Review and many other publications. He has taught writing at Sarah Lawrence, Binghamton University, Hunter College, the Fine Arts Work Center summer program (where he also had a fellowship in poetry in 1990), and for more than 20 years was on the MFA faculty at Goddard College. Spoken word from Reese Landry. Reese is a Cuban-American poet, short fiction author, and screenwriter based in Rhode Island with interests in psychology, neuroscience, and criminology.
